Description
1960 Nobel 200.
A very rare British built micro car. Recently recommissioned. Very good mechanically, complete, running and driving with (although not legally required) MOT to August 7th 2019. This car can be run for fun as is or is a simple and straight forward restoration project. These cars were a re-designed version of the German Fuldamobil which (with the exception of the Sachs 200cc 2 stroke engine and transmission) were manufactured in the UK. Fibreglass body, marine ply floor and square section steel chassis. (More information on the interesting history of these cars can be found on Wikipedia, search Nobel 200).
The engine and transmission is the same as used in the Messerscmitt KR200. It has a four speed gearbox with floor mounted lever with motorcycle type sequential gearchange. Reverse is interesting, you switch the engine off, flick a dashboard switch and re-start the engine, this runs the engine backwards, so engage first gear and the car goes backwards. The car is relatively long for a 3 wheel micro car, this gives the driving position of a conventional car with room in the back for a small bench seat.
The mechanicals of the car are in very good condition. One minor advisory on the MOT was slight play in a steering idler bush, this does not need immediate attention. It appears to have had new brake cables and steering rack some time ago but has had very little use since. The battery is new, the fuel tank is in good condition, it has been drained of old fuel. The chassis, outriggers and framework have very minor surface rust but are absolutely solid and if the car was restored would only require cleaning and painting. The floor is good and sound. The bodywork is all fibreglass so obviously corrosion is not an issue although there are various surface cracks and marks and the paintwork is poor. It has a V5 plus an old style log book. A very straightforward restoration project, already in running condition. Please use the web address below for 48 photos of all areas of the car.
