1961 Rover P4 100 2625cc With Overdrive Recorded mileage 61, 674 with supporting history . The P4 Series of Rover cars were a mid sized luxury saloon designed by Gordon Bashford for Rover . The first P4s were launched in 1949 and in different capacity's it stayed in production until 1964 with the last development being the P4 110 . Nicknamed the "Aunty" as it was such a part of British motoring culture . The interior was sumptuous with leather seating , Wilton thick pile carpet , Wood veneers and high quality chrome fittings . It was roomy too and gave the driver and its passengers plenty of room as they proceeded smoothly and quietly along . The 6 cylinder motor with Overhead valve and side inlet was beautiful and when maintained well gave little or next to no trouble . 100 MPH was on tap but I don't think Rover buyers were normally into speed . 0 to 60 was a respectable 22. 4 seconds not bad for a big saloon and it returned 23. 5 miles to the gallon . Body's up to 1962 were a combination of steel and aluminum but to cut costs after 62 all cars were steel through out . A total of 16, 521 Rover P4100 were produced before being succeeded by the 110 . This P4 100 is presented in excellent condition its coachwork finished in mid blue set off by the re chromed body fittings . The body line is straight and appears corrosion free . The underside of the P4 is excellent also , well anti corrosion treated and it appears free of any significant corrosion . Period chrome wheel rings and a period spot lamp complete the Rovers impressive external look . Moving to the interior the P4 retains its original blue leather seating which has a charming patination . The carpeting is also original and on the whole is very good , some wear to the drivers foot well carpet is apparent . New door seals have been fitted to each door aperture . So the interior has the comfort expected from and old "aunty" . Turn the key and the six cylinder engine fires straight away . A gentle warm up and off we went . Lovely smooth take of and the P4 sits happily at 50 MPH coming in and out of overdrive without delay . No overheating or major oil burning was noted . For a big car the rover stopped immediately and in a straight line . I enjoyed the drive as I am sure its new owner will . Supplied with extensive history going back nearly 30 years . Noted invoices for bare metal repaint , Brake overhaul , Rechrome , Door rubber trim and top end overhaul etc . A V5C , Stacks of expired MOT certificates , Hand book and spare keys are all present . Can be supplied with an MOT if required but other than that its ready to go . Delivery and shipping arranged
