Triumph T100 (1951) – H. Hancox/ Matching Numbers

Post WW2 production at Meriden commenced in 1946 with the Triumph Tiger 100. The new model boasted telescopic front forks/ rear sprung hub and in 1951 the new “close-fin” allow cylinder barrel was introduced that improved cooling and performance.

Just released from a private collection Milestones are delighted to offer for sale one of the best early 100’s on the road today. The buff log buff confirms that the Tiger was registered in Lancashire on 18 November 1951 to a Mr Derek Lockhart and has had a total of just six owners from new.

In 1998 the fifth owner took the bike to the best restorer he knew – Hughie Hancox – with the brief “build the best and most capable Tiger 100 that you can” In the history file there is an 18 page handwritten summary from Hughie listing all of the parts required and the show standard restoration was completed at a cost in excess of £7, 000

The bike was purchased by the current owner, a pilot, shortly afterwards who has used and enjoyed the Triumph for ride-outs with his son. The bike was exhibited at the Classic Motor Cycle Show in 2000 by MS Motorcycles and won Best Trade Stand Exhibit.

Today, 20 years after restoration, the Triumph is absolutely stunning. The paint work, chrome and mechanic condition of the bike is excellent and there is a hand written certificate from Hughie stating that JP 9491 is rebuilt to original 1951 colour and mechanical specification

With just 3, 000 miles on the clock this is a unique opportunity to own a piece of Triumph history. Make no mistake, this bike is remarkable – not a rounded off nut on the machine and better than when she left the factory.

I have owned Triumph’s since I was 16 and will be very very sorry to see this stunning machine leave our showroom
