Triumph Vitesse 6 – Early Car/ Excellent Condition
The Triumph Herald was launched in 1959 and, like the Spitfire, was designed by Giovanni Michelotti. The Vitesse was introduced in May 1962 and was an immediate success providing sports car performance (it was faster than the Sunbeam Alpine) with four seats.
First registered in October 1962 this lovely Vitesse 6 is one of the earliest remaining on the road today. The car has a lovely history folder with period advertising literature, drivers handbook and MOT’s/ invoices back to the early 1980’s
Mechanically the car still retains her original, beautifully smooth, 1600cc straight six engine with an utterly addictive exhaust note! The car benefits from a larger core radiator, electric fan and brake servo…all additions that allows the car to take modern road conditions in her stride.
The body has never been removed from the chassis, the panel gaps are as good as when the car left the factory and the chassis is superb with no corrosion. The interior is, again, very original – seats, dash, carpet and sound proofing pads in the hood stowage area - there are very few Vitesse’s in the country with these still in place
Original specification Vitesse’s in this condition with low owners/ mileage are incredibly difficult to find – most have all been (over) restored and have non-original specifications.
