Exterior Body
The Golf GTI is one of the most iconic hatchbacks on the road and has been for over 4 decades. This 1983 example is finished in the infamous factory colour of Mars Red and the paintwork is stunning all around the vehicle. The GTI benefits from the double-stripe detail down either side and black arch trims, as well as twin headlamp grille with red stripe border.
Wheels & Tyres
The mult-ispoke 'tarantula' alloy wheels are in pristine condition and have no curbing or corrosion. All of the original black VW centre caps are present and each of the four tyres have a very good amount of tread depth.
Interior Components
The interior of the Golf Mk1 has been kept in a brilliant state and the carpets, doorcards and seat upholstery is all coordinated in black. The seats have a GTI stripe detail down the centre front and rear. There is a multi-tape function as well as radio and the Golf has the 'GTI' spec steering wheel.
Mechanics
The Golf is mechanically brilliant and after carrying out our full inspection we found everything is working as it should be with many service items including the timing and auxiliary belts having been recently replaced. The current MOT certificate is valid until August 2019 and we will be carrying out a service to the vehicle in house prior to sale. The GTI comes with our 3 month warranty upon purchase.
Service & Maintenance History
The Golf has the original service record and user manuals as well as many receipts from over the past 35 years to evidence work carried out to the vehicle and maintenance. There is a large folder of MOT certifciates which varify the mileage and the vehicle is fully HPI clear. There have been just 4 previous owners since 1983.
Drive & Comfort
The original and arguably the best GTI of them all, this fantastic hot-hatch is cosmeticallty and mechanically brillaint. The drive is smooth and it is a pleasure to take on the road as well as having a respectable service history and superb bodywork. These factors make the Volkswagen all the more appealing as a sound investment for the future or as a classic to be used and enjoyed!
