A project started by me and a good bodywork guy in 2013. Basically to fill in time between my contracting work.
Time has passed, the bodywork guy has got divorced, I’ve since completed a G Wagon and Unimog; the contract work has turned to permanent, abroad, and so these are for reluctant sale.
I’ve got to emphasise that, prior to body work this was a complete drivable car, used by me for 6 months with no engine issues or major MOT faults. Not a barn find, a part completed restoration.
I’ve tried to put a percentage of completeness for the car in terms of what has been done and time needed, by someone who knows these cars, would take to finish with costs of respray excluded.
The SLC is about 80%. All welding done and affected areas treated with Bilt and Hamber Electrox, epoxy mastic and their wax oil. Needs final coat of silver. Note that I was going to sell to a guy who wanted a rally replica and so he paid for the prep to include filling the holes for the chrome trim side strips.
Personally I think that it would be more valuable and fun to own as a replica with rear seats removed and a suggestion of a roll-cage? Check-plate door panels? A louder exhaust?
There’s a choice of a full blue velour interior or leather front seats. Would need pattern carpets.
As far as MOT work, one of the rear UJ gaiters is worn. It was maintained by the same garage for 19 years before I bought in 2013 from the lady owner in West London who owned it for that length of time.
I’ve tried to be as honest as I can and I have pics of most of the re-work and are priced to sell sight un-seen (its worth this for spares) or one visit and take away with transporter and trailer.
Due to my work commitments, the car needs to be taken from 22nd to 29th of March.
I will not break. If it doesn’t sell it will go into containerised storage. Space is needed for cars needing less work so I can reduce my collection to a manageable number.
