MGA 1600 Coupe (1957) Never Welded/ Rare Colour
The MGA was announced on 26 September 1955 and officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show with the Coupe following a year later in September 1956. Styled by Syd Enever the design was based on the lessons learnt from the record breaking efforts of the factory works team and the final result is arguably one of the prettiest cars every produced by the Abington factory
Originally exported to North America and re-imported into the UK over 20 years ago Milestone Classics are delighted to offer this extremely rare (one year only colour option) Island Green MGA Coupe.
Shortly after arrival in the UK the car was the subject of a six year, body off restoration by a previous owner and the following work was completed:
· Converted to RHD
· Chassis: Shot-blasted, cleaned, primed and painted
· Bodywork: Paint removed/ re-spray in Island Green to near concours stands
· Later re-conditioned 1622cc Engine with Electronic Ignition
· Reconditioned Gearbox, new Clutch and uprated Radiator
· New Brakes, Wheel Cylinders, Half Shaft Seals etc.
· New Carpets, Re-upolstered Seats with 3 Point Harness
There is a good history file containing a variety of invoices, photographs, MOT’s etc. demonstrating that the car has always been well maintained since restoration. On the road the ‘A’ drives extremely well and has been used extensively by previous owners including road trips across France, Spain, Italy and the Outer Hebrides.
Under 10, 000 MGA Coupes were built and they are a superb car equally at home at the local pub or completing a road trip down to the South of France. The combination of stunning appearance with higher levels of comfort to the standard roadster make this an ideal option for those looking for a stylish two seater classic sports car.
