Description
A stylish classic car that is also exceptionally easy and pleasant to drive—that, without a doubt, perfectly describes this magnificent MGA Roadster MKII. Introduced in 1955 as the successor to the MG TF, the MGA was initially offered with a 1500 engine, followed later by a 1600 version. The final iteration, the MKII, remained in production for only one year. This version featured a 1622 cc engine producing 90 hp, front disc brakes, and an improved rear axle. This stunning dark green MGA is particularly special—not only because it is an MKII model, but also because it was originally delivered new in the Netherlands and has been in the possession of its most recent owner since 1977.
Produced in 1962, this beautiful, originally Dutch-delivered MGA MKII spent a long period in a showroom before receiving its first Dutch registration in August 1967. Although the car was originally white, the first owner had it repainted red. The most recent owner subsequently purchased the vehicle with the intention of carrying out a complete, professional restoration. This "body-off" restoration was executed in the late 1990s with great thoroughness and expertise; an extensive collection of photographs documenting the process accompanies the car. During the restoration, the owner opted to have the vehicle repainted in a stylish dark green. Since the restoration, the owner has enjoyed driving the car, while also maintaining it with immense care and affection. The result is impressive; even after many years, this classic roadster remains in sublime condition.
The stunning dark green paintwork boasts a deep luster and is in excellent condition. The various chrome components and trim pieces are also in perfect shape, as are the original steel wheels with their hubcaps. The chrome luggage rack is not only a stylish accessory but also highly practical, and it remains in excellent condition. The rubber seals and various trim finishes are likewise in great condition. The body panels align well, and the doors close securely and properly. The convertible top is in excellent condition. The car comes complete with its side screens, and small, hinged side windows can also be fitted.
The interior is in equally excellent—nearly new—condition. The black leather seats feature perfectly coordinated dark green piping; they are in superb condition and exceptionally comfortable. The dashboard is a beautiful sight, remaining in impressively good condition. The wooden steering wheel is in stunning, pristine condition and complements the interior perfectly. It is rare to encounter a car that looks so flawless so many years after its restoration.
Under the bonnet lies a meticulously maintained 1622cc four-cylinder engine. Equipped with dual SU carburetors, the engine runs exceptionally smoothly and quietly. It is clear that this car has been treated with a great deal of love and care. The brakes feel firm and solid, and the steering is remarkably smooth. This MGA shifts and drives with great ease, making it an exceptionally appealing driver’s car!
