1973 sunbeam rapier fastback,
I found this car in a garage in crewe Cheshire it had been there unused since 1985 when the first owner stopped driving it has been registered to the son who didnt use it,
After getting the car home we got the engine serviced up with new oil and filters a new battery, points plugs etc and after cleaning and adjusting the carbs we had it running.
Next I completely renewed the braking system with new calipers, pads rear brake cylinders and shoes we also reconditioned the master cyl.
We took the car for mot which it passed with one advisory, a tiny bit of rot in one un structural outrigger which has been repaired. the mot man said that underneath the car was very solid.
The bodywork is also very solid with reasonable paint which polishes up well it's not quite as good in the flesh as shown in the photos and would benefit with a respray but I would keep it as it is..
This car was ziebartted from new and it means that all the innerwings and wheelarches are in excellent condition, under the bonnet is the same but I have started cleaning in here and it's coming up nice.
The interior is like new there are no splits in any of the hard plastic and there are no parts missing, carpets are original and are excellent.
All four windows wind up and down as they should, headlining is again in very good condition.
The car drives very good but the clutch pedal is a little high, it pulls away with no shuddering and it doesn't slip.
Overall this is a a very original Rapier which with a bit more time and work would be a very nice car.
