Triumph Spitfire 1500 – 22k miles/ Utterly Original
The Triumph Spitfire was introduced at the London Motor show of 1962. The stylish body was designed by Giovanni Michelotti and the running gear was based on the Herald. Although more expensive than the Midget/ Sprite the design, linked to good performance, proved very successful. Production finally ceased in 1900 with the 1500, a much improved car with more powerful engine, superior suspension/ brakes and the squared off rear that echoed the Triumph Stag.
Milestones are delighted to offer one of the most original Spitfire 1500 sports cars on the market today. The Triumph was purchased new by Miss Donnelly on 1st June 1981 at T F Topping & Co Ltd, Enniskillen, Northern Ireland. The car was used sparingly before passing to the second owner, another family member, Miss McCartney.
In 2010, after a period of time in storage, the car was imported into the UK and formed part of a small private collection until purchased and recommissioned by the fourth owner

Brake & suspension overhaul (front/ rear shocks, coil springs, bushes)

Today the car has covered just 22k miles and is a remarkable survivor having never seen any paint or restorers welding torch. The Pageant Blue paint work has just the odd mark commensurate with age, a light layer of factory protection to the underside and the panel fit is outstanding – proof that they did not leave the factory with the poor fit found on so many restored cars today.
The interior, like the exterior, is lovely. The Spitfire retains the original factory hood with supplying dealership (Topping’s) sticker and the history folder contains Irish registration documents, DVLA V5/ paper work, UK MOT’s, invoices, contemporary sales broacher, drivers handbook, Passport to Service with service stamps etc.
On the road the car is a delight to drive with sharp handling, no untoward noises and will provide the lucky new owners with lots of happy memories. We recommend an early test drive in order to avoid disappointment.
