Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1931 Austin Heavy 12/ 4 ‘Romney’ For Sale.
Registration: RH 2543
Chassis no: 67424
Engine no: 67913L
The Austin heavy 12/ 4 ‘Romney' was manufactured between September and December 1930 and registered in the first few days of 1931 through the Cornelius Parish Austin dealership in Hull.
The unusual coach work is by Martin Walter of Folkestone and increased the selling price considerably from the standard Austin model.
The motor is well appointed with leather seating and trim both in the saloon and dickey compartment.
When the Ronmey was fully restored in the early 90’s, it was painted in two tone green, however research revealed that the car was originally supplied black with maroon wheels and stripe to complement the upholstery.
The Austin had a bare metal (mostly aluminium) respray almost three years ago, when at the same time a full period rewire and some mechanical work was undertaken. It has a one shot hood which can be raised or lowered in seconds and winding side windows with quick actuation on the drivers side.
The car is very correctly detailed with indicator lamps completely hidden within the original period lamps. The paint finish is a superb deep gloss black and the car is shod with Goodrich tyres with excellent tread.
The car is complete with the original handbook, some tools and a history file. The Austin is thought to be one of only two Austin DHC remaining with Martin Walter Coachwork in the UK.
