The car being presented here is body number "0001". The only one in the world and certainly a conversation piece, but more, a piece of history as this Cabriolet has been verified by Mercedes as the first one made.
This cabriolet remains in its original color with its original interior and powertrain. Correspondence included here between its’ previous owner in Los Angeles, California and the “Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Club” in Germany, in addition to letters from DaimlerChrysler’s [sic] very own “Mercedes-Benz Classic Center” include the cars’ build sheet substantiating its originality.
The faded, laminated, original build sheet is included here for your files, as is a digitally enhanced version prepared by a seasoned, professional forensic document specialist with over twenty years of experience. .
Further, the vehicle identification plates located throughout the vehicle correspond with the categories shown on the build sheet for the chassis, body, powertrain and colors for the body and interior.
It is indeed the very first car of its kind (“00001”), and that it retains all of its original components makes it eligible for a restoration worthy of such a rare and special vehicle.
