Beschreibung
This car is well known throughout the FD world as one of the best survivors, the underside of this car has never been welded and is still as solid as when it left the factory, car has original 48k miles on her looks and drives very well sounds fantastic
Fitted with a 3. 9V8 engine with Lt75 5 speed manual gearbox and original 3. 3 diff custom built twin Stainless steel exhaust system and edlebrok carb and air filter pan the car pulls like a train, no stereo ! no reason for one !
The interior was completely taken out and small holes drilled into the chassis rails from the inside of the car, the chassis has then been filled with wax-oil and rubber bungs put in to close up the drilled holes, about 5 per side from the front footwell through to the back of the car, also any access where panels meet the pipe was inserted and wax-oil sprayed inside, the roof lining was removed and with a wire brush wheel on a grinder the inside of the roof was polished then painted with anti rust paint then painted over with black enamel before the new headlining was fitted
The interior floor of the car was also polished back to bare metal then anti-rust inhibitor painted over the floor, then the floor was stone chipped yes on the inside because it dries like a rubber, this was then painted over in black enamel paint before the re-trimmed interior went back in the car, so this car aint goina rust!!, the door panels where removed and inside of doors waxoiled before replacing the door cards , the floor of the boot was also given the same treatment, I also got inside the boot and sprayed the wax-oil up the quarter panels and the flitch panel between the bottom of the rear screen and the boot, also around the wheel arches
With the car up in the air and the wheels removed the sills where filled with wax-oil and any other access that was available had the wax-oil treatment, any loose underseal was removed and the area treated before undersealing the entire underside of the car as well as up into all the wheel arches and drop panels, the ends of the chassis rails just before they sweep up into the engine bay have had 10mm holes drilled to let any condensation drain from the rails in the rare chance that any water should get in them ( highly unlikely )
The V8 runs sweet and had new crank shaft bearings ( shells ) fitted, also valley gasket, oil pick up pipe, modified sump, new engine mounts etc before fitting and runs great with very good oil pressure, new competition alloy radiator and oil cooler radiator fitted on electric fans, Rad is filled with @cooler than water@ for good running temperature and block protection it is also an anti-freeze
Front and rear shocks have been replaced track rod ends and steering rack all within the last 1500 miles
also new handbrake cable
The 5 speed box is a type 19 from a tr8 so perfect for this set up the clutch has also been converted from cable to hydraulic and works a treat
Because the replacement engine is aluminium compared to the cast iron original the front end is lighter giving lighter steering
Now then for all the people who think the car should be original the conversion on this car has been done in such a way that if you wanted to put the car back to original you can remove the V8 and everything will go back into place, the bulk head has NOT been cut, the engine mountings on the front running gear have NOT been altered any alteration was done on the replacement engine and box, the car is still using the original clutch cable to operate the hydraulic clutch mechanism and all the interior heating equipment has been left in place as can be seen. so to re-cap everything original that's engine gearbox prop and exhaust will all go straight back into the car with ease. if you have any questions Please call.
