Deep Maroon / Garnet and Black with Gold Hand Painted Fine Coach Lines with Grey Leather.
Original Registration Number, CGF 298, Chassis Number GBJ 44, Engine Number V27E, Body Number 8471 to design 6141. Ordered by Mrs F. M. Houghton of Harrogate on 6th July 1935, Off Test 19th August 1935, Chassis Delivered to Hooper & Co. Ltd. on 21st August 1935, Completed Car Delivered to Hooper & Co. Ltd., London and First Registered 29th October 1935.
This very rare original bodied 4 Door, 4 Light Owner Driver Sports Saloon 20/ 25 Horsepower comes with copies of the original build sheets, design drawings and receipts. It appears the the first lady owner kept it until 1960 when it was then owned by the famous in Rolls-Royce circles David “Bunty” Scott-Moncrieff. The previous owner kept it from 1989 until purchased by the present owner in 2011.
This Long Wheelbase Sports Saloon is very spacious and can seat 5 people in comfort, the front seats have long runners to accommodate all drivers and there is plenty of headroom. The rear has fold down tables and side mirrors and lights. This motor car is in good useable condition with original patinated leather seats, it still retains the original 3, 699cc straight six engine which starts instantly on the button and is lovely and quiet, showing very good oil pressure and cool water temperature due to the radiator being Rebuilt by Anglia Radiators, an ideal way of gaining entry to the prestigious 20 Ghost Club.
The present mileage reads 97, 610, the owner has only driven around 1, 500 miles since 2011 due to owning other vintage and classic motor cars which is the main reason for sale, it is Road Tax and M. O. T. Exempt. This rakish and imposing Vintage Rolls has number of features including side mounted spare, opening windscreen and sunshine roof, , Hooper sill plates, one shot lubrication system, chrome bumpers, E ratio steering, centre spotlight, modern indicators, window wind deflectors, external petrol filler door and owners manual.
This Motor Car can be viewed by prior appointment at the owners house near Retford, Nottinghamshire, with very good access from the A1 Road and the London to Edinburgh Mainline Railway. It has been enthusiast owned.
