Description
1956 Studebaker Champion 3 Litre Manual , Original RHD example which has spent most of its life in South Africa, coming to the UK for the first time in 1989. Design by Raymond Loewy who was famous for designing the original Coca Cola bottle. Very well presented car which retains most of its original interior. The odometer reads 61, 000 miles which looks correct . The dashboard is fabulous, and very "Rocket Ship" in its design , The Studebaker is spacious and very comfortable. It is clear from the strong structure the car has been dry for most of its life. The underside is excellent and any inspection is welcome, The two tone paint work shows the stylish lines off very well and it is in very good condition , The odd material imperfection is present , Chrome is excellent and again enhances the style of the Champion . The engine bay is clean , Original inner wings can be seen and the car has a spacious, large boot. Sales pata of the day claimed , Ladies peddles (easy to use with heels) and ultra light steering. Further interesting features included hill holding brakes, easy shift gears and rare flight style instruments with futuristic colored display speedometer. I drove it 20 miles home on delivery and yes I was impressed the 3 Litre motor was smooth and torque and the gear change easy . This example has free wheel overdrive which operated when engaged . The car cruises comfortably at 55mph, The brakes are incredible and pull up sharply having been recently serviced, The steering is notably light , Other than lashings of rain I enjoyed the drive . It comes with V5C , MOT history and an interesting book , Great for Wedding work , Proms or just a great enjoyable 50, s Rock and Roll Motor ,
