Description
HERE is a simply delightful Hillman Minx deluxe Series VI. The Series VI was the last in the line of Minxes and also the only model to sport the Rootes Group tried and tested 1725cc engine. This made a huge difference to the driveability of this much loved family saloon and, even today, it drives and handles superbly and is well capable of dealing with modern day traffic. She is also fitted with servo brakes. She has just 38, 000 miles on the clock and the family who owned her for more than 30 years insisted that they believed it to be correct.
I sent her for an MoT last month (December) even though she no longer requires one and she flew through that.
She is a lovely example in all respects. Great body and paintwork which is Rootes Willow Green. I would describe both engine bay and boot areas as being in exceptional order for a 1960s classic. Her interior, also green, is a great place to be. Seats are practically perfect. Her dashboard - and some of you reading this will already know - was unique to the Series VI. Gone is the silver metal dash with the two round clocks, and in its place is a quirky horizontal speedo and totally different switch gear. I have always thought since childhood - and I stand to be corrected - that the speedo unit is the same as on the early Hillman Imps!
She is super on the road, as you would expect from a 1725 unit. All in all, this is a rare opportunity to buy one of the last Hillman Minxes. Indeed I am sure there's a fair number of classic fans who never knew that the final Minx housed this superb engine.
Anyway, there you go. That's about it. Wash, polish and enjoy.
She is not a new car, nor is she a three-year-old used car. She is a piece of antique motoring history and, as such will have quirks and maybe even the odd fault. Anyway, she is what she is. These old gems - in this case 58-years-old - are sold as seen. Should you buy without viewing, then she is sold on the basis of the advertisement you have read the photos, or extra photos, you have seen as well with the assistance of any answers to questions you have received from me. Treat these classics with the respect they deserve and make sure they have love, time and effort lavished on them. Even the very best need permanent on going care. Practically all will have undergone a degree of restoration work or improvement at some stage. If it's a three-year-old car dating from the 1960s that you are after, then you are out of luck. Short of acquiring a Tardis that is.
Anyway, thanks for reading. I am here to answer any questions you may have and, remember, that I also provide a delivery service. Martin the details below)
