1967 VW Beetle
After much soul - searching we are regretfully letting go of our beautiful
'67 Beetle.
Life is crazy busy, a house project takes up all of our time, and we can't
get to use the car as we had always planned.
We purchased the car from a deceased estate a few years back, where it had clearly been loved by the gentleman who had owned it. I viewed it in his garage, where it had sat for a few years and immediately bought it without starting or driving - I just knew I had to have it.
We loved the untouched, originality of the car - so rare nowadays, and we
could tell by the window stickers that it would bring good karma to anyone
who drove it.
So, we towed it home to our unit, fettled the engine so it ran and fitted
new brake linings/ cylinders so it stopped. We've driven it around a little
bit, but that's about it really, it just sits waiting for us to get to it.
It will need some further mechanical work to make it perfect - the engine
needs tuning and has a small oil leak and the clutch has a judder in reverse
but other than that it's fairly good to go.
The body structure is strong, and the paint has a nice, honest shiny finish.
There are a few areas on the bonnet edges, rear wing and around the rear
window where someone has seen fit to flash in with a rattle can, so if you
are looking for perfection I think a respray would be best. The chrome is a
bit pitted, and the Californian style bumpers are not the original ones.
Interior is original and nicely patinated. I'm told this is quite a rarity
as it is the '67, 1 year only model - but to us, it's just a charming, lovely old Beetle, that's been left to age with dignity.
It doesn't have a current MOT, and would need to be trailered away, but it
is on private land so can be driven. Price is £5000
