Description
This is a very rare opportunity to acquire a near perfect early model Triumph Herald 948 cc twin carb saloon. The car was registered in October 1960 in Eastbourne and has now covered 49000 miles and has all the MOT certificates back to 1964 (when the MOT test was introduced) and most of the tax discs. There is a file with all the service invoices, purchase invoice, original logbook, and stamped service book.
The condition of the car is amazing with hardly any work having been done to the bodywork or chassis. The chassis has no rust (still has the original spray paint). The paintwork is near perfect for its age with only one or two marks. The car was fitted with the rubber bumper covers as an extra (like the later 1200 model) , this was done in 1961 as the invoice shows. The original sales invoice of October 1960 show a small premium paid for the factory option high compression engine and the twin carbs.
The interior is near perfect with only a little flaking on the top of the black dash (easily rectified) and perhaps the front seats could do with new foams. The carpet has a small amount of wear to the left of the clutch pedal.
Mechanically the car is near perfect, a slight oil weep from the timing chain case (very common). 4 new tyres have been fitted. It starts and drives perfectly.
With a very little effort this car will be a concours winner. Any sensible offer will be considered for this special little car.
