Description

1934 Morgan 3 Wheeler Super Sports 3 speed

Chassis number: D648

Registration number: OC8342

A stunning little Morgan super Sports powered by the sought after J. A. P. (John Alfred Prestwich) 1100cc V twin engine.

This car was restored in 1994 & then put in dry storage in an old west London factory along with an assortment of motorcycles. We were contacted by the widow of the previous owner & asked to recommission the Morgan after disinterring it & make it road worthy which we have done including fabricating a new fuel tank to the pattern of the original.

The car is in stunning condition & is simply a pleasure to drive. It was converted to hydraulic brakes which are pin sharp compared to the original & allow for very spirited driving indeed. The British Racing Green paintwork is brand new & in perfect condition. The older Black leather to the seats is also in perfect condition with just the right feel of age to them. A new mohair Tonneau cover has just been made to cover the cockpit when not in use. Gears are three with first being a dog leg to the right in the same pattern as a 3 speed Rolls Royce 20hp or early Aston's.

The car starts instantly with the ignition well retarded by the lever on the left of the steering wheel. The long right hand lever is the easily operated thumb throttle & above that is the choke which is rarely needed. The JAP engine settles down readily to an even tickover with the exposed valve gear ticking away on the cylinder tops.

To the dash board is an ammeter, a speedometer & an original Morgan St Christopher with the cars chassis number stamped upon it. 3 new tyres are fitted to the three corners as is a new battery.

Driving the car is a fantastic experience as it really is a sort of refined hooligans toy. The faster you go the better it becomes with over 70MPH being attainable. Gears are easily selected once the hand throttle is mastered & the exhaust barks urgently behind as one winds it up through the gears whilst peering over the aero screens. It is indeed the closest thing to flying a Tiger Moth that I have come across without actually getting airborne. The car is fully sorted, in impeccable condition & ready for some serious bugs in the teeth style fun.
