I have a bee in my bonnet about design. In my opinion the first iteration of a design is usually the best. Think about the Jaguar XK 120 as compared to the overweight 150. Ok there can obvious improvements in comfort and- or performance but messing abut with the body design rarely improves it. The Mk1 Midget to my mind is a great example. The clean lines, with just the simple windscreen unobstructed by quarter-lights breaking the sweep from head to tail light. This is a sweet example restored some years ago. Smooth engine and a great drive. Not for the perfectionist but a really good solid example perfect for someone who appreciates these early cars and wants to use. Number-plate by separate negotiation.
