This car has been kept in a climatically controlled dry store and is immaculate in every way, as you would expect from a car that has barely turned a wheel since leaving the factory.
The Spyder is lighter, lower and slightly longer than the standard Boxster. The rear humps styled over the roll bars are a nod to the 718 spyder of the 1960s. It has been described by some as the purists version, built for the driver, with few of the extras that sometimes sanitise the driving experience.
At around 1275kgs it was the lightest Porsche of its time. Several factors add to the weight reduction, removal of the electronic roof, lower side windows, new ten spoke alloys, each weighing less than 10 kgs, carbon backed bucket seats and aluminium doors all save in the region of 80kgs.
The 3. 4 flat 6 engine is up on power, peaking at 7200rpm to a factory claimed 316bhp, developing 273ftlb of torque at 4750rpm. Top speed varies, roof up, limited to around 124mph, roof down we can top 160mph.
The car rides on shorter, stiffer springs, lowering the ride height by 20mm and the whole package is brought to a halt by 318mm front discs and 299mm at the rear.
Our car has been in the current owner's possession since 2012 and he is the second registered keeper. The vehicle is presented as new, fresh off the production line.
