Very nice history resulting in a very nice high standard car. This car was bought at a high end UK auction house. The lot was presented in kit form, all packed in boxes and on pallets etc. Everything was there having been dismantled from a full existing car. A father and son team won the auction and decided to use as long term bonding exercise. Well they really went to town and no expense was spared. The original engine, ancillaries and gearbox were all sent to Italy to be rebuilt by a top Ferrari and Masseratti specialist then returned back to the U. K. The body was stripped and repainted. Everything that was to be put back on the car was then either refurbished or replaced new. Including new bumpers, new lights and indictors, new wire loom, new fuel system from front to back including the tank. Mechanically the same applied. All the steering, all suspension including springs, shock absorbers etc all replaced new. All the braking system replaced new. The car is literally as clean underneath as it is on top. The time and effort and money to get a Fiat 500 to this standard out ways its asking price. But it was never about the money. Im sure good memories between father and son were made.
Since I have owned it, and having owned a huge amount of 500’s I set to finishing it off. I Have in the last few weeks had the original steel wheels repainted in period cream. Then installed 4 new stainless centres. I also shod the wheels with 4 brand new Pirelli tyres. I have also installed the following all new: new stainless gutter trim, new washer bag and button, new horn , new retro sports chrome mirrors, new stainless correct size licence plate surrounds, new front nose badge , new chrome license plate light cover.
This sought after 500 is now good to go for another chapter in its life. Prices continue to rise on these 500s. Buying quality examples in Italy is no longer a viable option driving prices up Europe wide.
