Well here I have the sale quite the rare thing indeed, a VW mk2f polo that is completely original in good condition with low miles! The car has covered 59300 miles in its 30 year life with a mot until November 2021 meaning this is a great little car and the ideal future investment.
The car is the classic 1. 0 4 speed which is a super engaging combination that gives great mpg's with enough power to get you along and thanks to the car being so small and light they handle like a proper little go-kart, these have to be one of the best driving retro super minis. The engine box and clutch are all very good and work as expected.
Exterior wise the car is finished in the beautiful colour that is steel blue which looks quite dark in the photos but it's alot lighter under different lights, really is a nice colour for the car. The bodywork on the car is extremely tidy considering it's a 30 year old car now, only areas that let it down cosmetically are the 2 small dents one apon the boot lid and the other on the rear wheel arch (paint free dent removal will get both out) and a slight bit of surface rust at the lower part of the windscreen, of course it has the odd little stone chip and other little imperfections but this really isn't the usual dog that you would see looking through some of the other mk2 polo's on the market that have either been neglected and driven hard throughout their lives or have been modified in such a way it destroys most of the investment factor of the car. This really is a cracking little example!
Inside the car is truly beautiful, I hate using cliché terms but it is actually a 'time warp' stepping inside the car. The seats are all very good and still feel as solid as they did when they came out of the factory, all the trim is together, the original radio is still in the car which again is super rare on a little hatchback of the era, carpets are really good, floor mats are great and the headliner is all good too! The car even has the tool kit all in place in the boot.
Underneath the car is very good, not rusty in the usual areas such as the filler neck, battery tray and sills. You can still see all the blue paint inside the arches and underneath the car which makes a good change, feel it must have been kept in some form of dry storage alot of its life to preserve it the way is has. The exhaust hangers are even secure with the exhaust being very solid! (if you know mk2's you know that's a rare thing)
So in summary this is a great little starter classic/ retro for someone especially the likes of the younger enthusiast as these cost pennies to run, parts are very easy and cheap to come by and they do appear to be a solid investment after watching the market over the last year.
