VW Polo Mk2 86c Coupe S 1985

Here we have our rebuilt pre facelift MK2 Polo coupe S. Many thousands of pounds spent and has gone through a long arduous 2-year renovation in our spare time. The car has been stripped with only the wiring loom and headlining left in place. Every component has been removed, checked, cleaned, repaired or replaced. Every electrical connection was checked and cleaned before reassembly The list below gives you an idea as to what has been repaired or replaced:
Battery tray, wheel arches, sills etc have had corrosion cut out and repaired. The engine bay has been completely stripped and all rust spots ground back and rust treated.
Brakes: rebuilt front calipers (mk2 golf upgrade), new front discs and pads, new front and rear brake hoses, various brake pipes replaced, master cylinder rebuilt, all new hardware inside rear drums including shoes and adjusters, new handbrake cables, new rear wheel cylinders. Rear back plates blasted and powder coated.
Suspension/ steering: Adjustable platform dampers stripped and cleaned, new rear beam axle bushes, rear beam blasted and powder coated, new front ball joints, new track rod ends, steering rack serviced, 5 speed anti roll bar with centralising bush kit. New wheel bearings both front and rear.
Engine: 1. 3ltr, cylinder head vapour blasted and skimmed, mild porting of head and polishing on valve throats, GT camshaft, valve seats cut, valves faced and lapped, valve guides measured for wear, valve stem oil seals replaced, oil pump chain replaced, bottom end check over, lightened and balanced flywheel, new water pump and cambelt, new gaskets and seals throughout. Pierburg carburettor ultrasonic cleaned and rebuilt, later type electronic ignition distributor and amplifier with modified loom.
Exhaust: Ashley 4 into 1 exhaust manifold and painted in VHT matt black paint, modified G40 exhaust system.
Transmission: 5 speed conversion, visually inspected gearbox, new seals, new Sachs clutch, new inner and outer CV joints, new clutch cable.
Interior: Seats removed and stripped, replaced foam where needed and retrimmed, door cards and rear quarter panels re trimmed to match. Dash removed, heater cables lubricated and checked, carpets cleaned and re-dyed where required. Door internals stripped and cleaned, door locks removed, cleaned and lubricated, window regulators cleaned and lubricated.
Fuel system: new fuel tank, new fuel lines front to rear, new Facet electric fuel pump, 2 filter set up, one pre pump, one pre carburettor.
Wheels and tyres: genuine 14” VW Castellet wheels freshly refurbished, 4 new Toyo tyres.
Bodywork: 2 new genuine front wings fitted. Body is in fair condition, this is the only thing that the car needs. We left it like this so it can be used and enjoyed without being too precious about it.
