1980 MERCEDES-BENZ 280SL R107
We have just taken in part exchange this stunning thistle green R107.
It has covered just over 102000 miles and has a very clean mot history including a current MOT until November this year even though it technically didn’t need one.
It comes complete with two keys and a huge folder full of service history. This is a car that has been very well maintained over the years and had a body restoration back in 2000.
It is mechanically excellent and drives with no issues , looking through the history in recent years it has had brake calipers , a new battery, distributor cap and fresh leads/ plugs and also the gearbox mountings and prop couplings changed.
All the trim on the car both internally and externally is in superb condition also. There are no rips or tears internally at all and the chrome is free of any damage/ pitting also.
The rest of the car is so good it deserves a nice paint finish to make it an excellent car, there are a few minor repairs to do which i have also highlighted in an online video, these are as follows: some corrosion to the sill ends which will require the ends cutting out and replacing with good metal which is a relatively straight forward job for any welder/ bodyshop . Both footwells have some corrosion in each corner - this will also require removal and replacement, I would personally change the whole panel as these are very cheap from the SL shop and readily available. There is also a small rust bubble on the edge of the drivers front wing that I would cut out also to prevent this from returning in the future.
As usual I am probably over describing this car as it’s a presentable car overall that could be used as it is should you so wish but most people will realise that we like to describe our vehicles correctly “warts and all” so any potential customers can make an informed decision without the need to view in person.
