The Vanden Plas SD1 Rover is now an extremely rare car, especially as this particular car features a manual gearbox. We believe there are four other manual Vanden Plas's registered with the DVLA today, and we very much doubt they are in as fabulous a conditon as this one. That fantastic condition refers not only to the car's bodywork, or to the interior, or to the engine but to the whole car from top to bottom.

Even the engine bay is in immaculate condition. It's the robust 3. 5-litre V8 engine under the bonnet, with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Together they give a supreme drive.
The car feels like an executive car - the very high quality ride is something you'd expect in a top-of-the-range model. It's very spacious in the front and the back, and the bootspace is huge, with everything set off by the classic 1980s dashboard and instrument panel - sharp-edged functionality with just the right amount of executive extravagance.
There are many things to like about this car, but the beautiful sound of the V8 engine with the windows down really does put a smile on your face. I personally think the vast brown-smoked glass windows and the cream leather interior, married up with the cream paintwork, as well as the aerodynamic lines of these Rovers made them possibly the most elegant-looking of any popular 1980s car. There are five left. This is almost certainly the best of them.
