Description
November 1979 Austin Mini 1000
On offer from a private Mini Collection (see our other Minis listed)
Rescued from behind a garage in a sorry state in the early 90s the car was extensively restored by the last owner over the following 10 years into what we see here.
The car boasts a diff from a Metro Turbo with a 3. 1:1 ratio, KAD quickshift 'box and potent Swiftune Road Rocket 1380cc boasting a 286cam, fat valves, Longman (believed to be) head, Lumenition electronic ignition and Facet fuel pump with Metro Turbo 1. 75 inch SU with K&N filter.
The engine made 100Bhp when it was new, thus should be making at least that now its been run in and enjoyed over the ast 20 years.
The car looks well and feels very tight an lithe, no surprise given its running some negative camber all round and sits on those lovely 10inch MB three-piece split rim alloy wheels with sticky tyres. Braking comes from KAD four-pot ally callipers, Metro discs, braided hoses and servo assistance.
Inside we see metro seats, wood dash, Cooper instruments, RollCentre roll-cage, black headlining and a leather Cooper steering wheel.
The history file is considerable and contains the V5C showing just 6 former keepers to our vendor, an old V5C, multiple old MOTs; 2002 copy of Mini Mag which features the car, a tome of bills for parts and other bits.
Ready to be enjoyed, this Hot Mini goes well, sounds good and is lots of fun having been enjoyed lightly by our vendor during his 8 year tenure and has previously been into Europe too.
Viewing strictly by appointment only just off J6/ 7 of the M5 at Worcester. No groups.
