Finished in Blue Black Metallic with Black Leather Upholstery
Straight out of 15 years in dry storage - low owners - requires recommissioning / restoration - great project
First Registered on 25/ 03/ 1987 by NV Auto Teminus ( Mercedes-Benz Dealer in Oostende Netherlands ) - imported to the UK and First UK registered on 06/ 08/ 87 - Ownership transferred a year later on 01/ 08/ 88 and it has remained in single ownership todate.
In 2005 the Mercedes was replaced with another car for every day use but the owner who had a number of Classic Cars was so fond of the car he decided to keep it and it joined the collection in storage at his country residence.
The now elderly owner has sold his property and is moving to a care home and consequently the family have asked us to find a enthusiastic owner who will return the car to the road for it to be enjoyed once more.
The Car was collected by trailer and was found covered in a thick layer of dust, the last tax disc in the window shows the date of 2005 which matches with the last MOT so we are confident that was when it was last on the road. The Gentleman's Son says that his Father started the car and drove it on the property until his health declined some years ago and was unaware that the car was taken off the road for any problem back in the mid noughties.
The Car rolls freely and the battery took a charge so we were able to operate the electric windows to enable easy of steering whilst pushing.
The temptation to see what was underneath the dust was too much so we have washed and vacuumed so see what we have got .
We have made no attempt to start as I feel it would be sensible for the new owner to do the job properly.
The Body Work on the Car is generally OK and could be improved with polishing but there is corrosion on both rear arches and a dent in the nearside rear wing which will require Body-shop attention so a fresh repaint would seem in order.
Under the Bonnet there are a couple of holes on the nearside inner wing / flitch which will require attention. Underneath the Car the suspension is a bit crusty and there are signs of corrosion at the jacking points at the rear of both side sills - its not a horror story - far from it but some welding will be required. Interestingly I would say the car has never previously been welded nor is there any evidence of any accident damage and it appears to have escaped being home to wildlife although it was clear that the windscreen had been target practice for some feathered friends. The interior appears to be unmolested and very original - there is some wear on the drivers seat and the nearside rear window switch / fittings were loose on the back seat which we have bagged up.
We received a large folder of paperwork with the car but much of the paperwork related to insurance and SORN declarations - we do have the latest V5 along with 2 sets of keys and the Original Service Book which is stamped up to 1991 ( 58k miles ), numerous MOT's upto 2005 but little in the way of other maintenance bills which will no doubt have been completed. I have run an Experian Auto Data report to confirm that there is no adverse information recorded which apart from the import marker is totally clear.
I have taken a walk-round video of both the outside and also of the underneath which i am happy to whatsapp over to any prospective purchaser. We do have a Ramp on site so it can be viewed from underneath if required.
The 2. 3-16v is quite a special model and Internet research seems to indicate that only 600 RHD examples were produced, if you aren't aware of the model then a google search brings up plenty of information all of which is highly positive and worth a read .
Its very much "it is what it is" but 80's performance cars are very much the flavour of the day so I am sure that this will be an temptation for the right person - if you have any specific questions or require pictures of anything specific please just ask.
The Mercedes will need to be collected by trailer, but we can arrange this if required.
