Description
A fabulous W463 G-Wagen in rare Impala Brown metallic with just 97k KM from new.
Derived from Steyr’s military vehicle, Mercedes first sold the G in civilian form in 1979 – a no-nonsense, go anywhere utility vehicle build to the highest possible standards. But as the 90s followed the 80s, the G started to become gentrified and more civilised. It was a sweet spot between the bare bones early cars and the conspicuous ‘bling’ of today’s models.
This ’91 300GE has the straight-six M103 petrol engine found in other Mercedes of the era, with an automatic gearbox, electric windows, alloy wheels and air conditioning.
Supplied new in Japan and imported here in 2017, it has escaped the usual corrosion that affects these older Gs. It also had a thorough service, four new tyres and rectification of any issue found as evidenced by the stack of receipts from MB.
The only deviations from standard are an upgraded sound system, LED headlamps and a MPH speedo face (original included).
As the photos show the car is in lovely condition throughout. The bodywork is excellent, the underside corrosion free and the interior very nice with only some cracking to the Zebrano wood to show its 30 years.
On the road it drives very well indeed – we have just fitted all new steering joints – and of course off road it is unstoppable.
Previously supplied by ourselves and ready to go for its next owner with 12 months MoT. All in all, a very cool G-Wagen.
