The Saab 99 was introduced in November 1967 and the first 4, 190 units were produced in mid-1968. In 1969 production increased considerably, reaching 19, 411 units. In 1970 the second series of 99 goes into production, with a new interior.
The engine of this Saab 99 is of BMC origin, and is the same 1709cc and 80 horsepower «slant-4» that equipped the Triumph Dolomite.
The Saab 99 was in production until 1984, when the 900 went into production.
