Lincoln was the luxury brand of the Ford group in the early 1940s and within the range the Continental was the flagship of the production, before being replaced by the Lincoln Town Car in the 1980s. In September 1975, Lincoln launched a transitional model, a 5th generation Lincoln Continental in its 1975 facelift version, with an enormous 7. 5L 460 V8 engine, in Town Car variation, which was a sedan with a vinyl roof, oval "opera" rear quarter windows and a Cartier clock. According to the French enthusiast who bought it in 1980 and kept it until 2006, before selling it to its current owner, it would have been imported into France by the Canadian Embassy. Our collector, a fan of American beauties, drove the car regularly, providing all the necessary mechanical care and taking care to keep it in good condition and fine presentation. For the most demanding, some plastic and zamac parts could be changed, and some bodywork points redone. The on-board clock, the 8-track cassette player, cruise control and ventilation control also need to be repaired. Nonetheless, never restored and well maintained, this is a car in an enviable original condition, with a remarkably well-preserved black leather interior. The odometer reads just a tad over 18, 500 miles, meaning the car would actually have covered 118, 500 miles. The factory grey vinyl roof was repainted black, adding character to this large grey sedan. Additionally it has the optional electric sunroof and rear disc brakes, which enhances its driving pleasure.
