1999 Porsche 911 C2
An ‘early’ 996. 1 with a driver focused lightweight specification. (These cars were even lighter than the GT3!). Non sunroof, factory fitted sports seats, sports m030 suspension, sports exhaust, sports 18 split rim wheels, coupled with manual gearbox and old-school throttle cable.
This is a good example of these early 996s (the one to have with a lot less engine issues of the later cars), with an extensive history of maintenance included.
After a long time searching, I purchased this 911 from a work colleague! So I have known the car even longer than I've owned it! He sold it to me so he could fund a 996 turbo!
As my first entry into Porsche ownership, its been a pleasure. Its a real useable modern classic equally at home on the country lanes, on motorway or in town.
Upon purchase I had a health check undertaken by a Porsche specialist, and then I remedied quite a few items. I replaced all suspension parts, (and I mean everything so dampers, springs, bump stops, antiroll bars and all the arms.) All parts are correct Porsche M030 specification.
The brakes were overhauled, and the all radiators replaced. Full service with all fluids new coil packs, drive belt, starter motor and new battery. 4 Michelin correct Porsche N2 tyres with full wheel referb by Porsche specialist Exel. Geometry was then performed by Porsche specialist Center Gravity.
In my time owning the car I have replaced a few extra parts. The usual 996 stuff like alternator regulator, ac compressor, water pump, and engine mounts.
It has been serviced regularly using always correct mobil 1 oil and quality parts. It now has another correct set of N2 Conti tyres, brembo brakes and another new battery. There is lots of service history, dealer when it was newer, then lots of receipts after.
The condition of the car is good, inside and out. The black leather is lovely and still looks modern. This car has fitted from factory the optional extended leather and upgraded hifi. So a really nice place to be. Supplied with two workinng Porsche keys and even the correct 996 umbrella is included!
I have since 2012 put around 20k miles on the car approx 3000 a year, and will miss it deeply.

In summary, this is a good example of an early desirable 996 with an extensive history of maintenance included.
It is addictive to drive, with healthy 3. 4 flat-six that pulls well, and sounds fantastic. It really is the perfect modern classic.
