SUMMARY
Supplied new by J R Tagger Mercedes, Watford on 12th September 1990, this beautiful W201 190E remained with the same owner right up to 2018, when it was sold by to a Mercedes Club Member and serial Classic Mercedes owner. I assisted him in looking after this car during his two year ownership, and always said to him if he ever sold it, to let me have first refusal, which he did back in May; I didn’t need asking twice as W201’s like this aren’t exactly in abundance these days.
The car is in truly immaculate condition, and its abundantly clear it’s been garaged most of its life, as indicated by not only the exceptional condition of the bodywork, but by the tell tale bright orange dash needles; these have a tendency to fade to yellow, if the vehicle is left outside. What’s more surprising is the paint is largely original too, which is incredible for a vehicle of almost 31 years old.
The car drives as you’d expect of such a well maintained low mileage example, and despite its compact dimension rides like a limousine and is such a refreshing change from the crashy nature of modern cars. Obviously, and as is often said on eBay, there are no knock, bangs or rattles or even squeaks LOL! (if they had have been I’d have fixed them, but this one came to me like that!) The service booklet contains an impressive 33 entries, roughly equating to it being serviced annually despite it only having covered just 48, 844 miles. I’ve just given this car a major, all fluids changed service, so the next owner car enjoy a trouble free tenure.
This car is so complete too; everything that came with the car, is still there including the manuals, service pack, First Aid Kit, Warning Triangle , Tool Kit which is still in its original bag and all four original keys; the valet key is still remains unopened it its plastic sleeve.
I’ve had over 180 W201’s pass through my hand over the last 16 years, and I firmly believe to be one of the best W201’s currently on the market. The model 201 is at last getting the recognition it deserves with prices rising accordingly. Its exceptional example like this that will be at the top of this curve, so (I think) It’s a good time to invest , although that shouldn’t be your primary reason for buying what I think is the best car Mercedes have made in at least the last 35 years.
MTSV CLASSIC MERCEDES
MTSV (an abbreviation for Mark Taylor Specialist Vehicles) was born out an incurable and lifelong obsession for anything with four wheels on it, especially those carrying the legendary Three Pointed Star. Established by me, Mark Taylor in November 2005 when the Classic Car market was in its infancy and long before “everyman and his dog” had jumped on the Classic Car bandwagon. I also have extensive experience of the majority of the Mercedes models within my “band of interest” namely the W116, W123, W202 & W203 C-Class, W208 & W209 CLK, W210 & W211 E-Class, W126 & W140 S-Class, R170 & R171 SLK and the R129 SL-Class. Obviously as time goes on later models are coming onto my radar too
MTSV has always, and will always focus on quality rather than quantity, and in doing so has earned, and continues to maintain an enviable reputation among its many customers both in the UK and abroad, many who are now three, four and even five times repeat customers, some of which have become good friends too. I’m also listed in the Mercedes Club Directory as a recommended business and I’ve also had several of my rarer cars featured in the motoring press too.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have.
