This extremely rare original machine was manufactured in November 1953 with the model range having been in production since 1949. It is fitted with a swinging arm rear suspension as opposed to the plunger type of that time. It was also the only year that the grey paint scheme was used as normally the bikes were presented with a chrome tank. He actually sold the bike in 1976 before buying it back from the same gentleman in 1994.
Our example has had a few upgrades over the years but ultimately remains in a original specification. Some of the upgrades which have been carried out included having the electrics converted to 12 volts, electronic ignition to replace the magneto, new battery, non return valve fitted to stop the oil draining to the sump, replacement carb and oil pump and valve guides and piston rings.
The bike is supplied with a file bursting with old receipts, hand books and original documents and a hand written diary of maintenance work carried out and bike information that dates back as far as 1958.
