Testing the market and accepting expression of interest in our elegant and rarely available Rolls Royce Silver Dawn 4. 5 Litre automatic with flowing 4D6L coachwork by Freestone & Webb. One of only five made to design 3163, body number, engine number and chassis numbers all matching the original Rolls Royce factory build sheet.
According to Rolls Royce records, the chassis was delivered to Freestone & Webb on 17/ 08/ 54 and the vehicle was delivered to Jack Olding & Co on 14/ 10/ 55. The original UK buyer was a Mr WL Horbury of Towcester, a wealthy cotton trader, purchase price in 1955 was £5, 615, equivalent to around £150, 000 today.
A very small number of coach built examples of the Silver Dawn were manufactured out of the relatively low total number of 760 vehicles including the standard steel bodied examples. Mileage is showing at a little over 88000 believed to be genuine.
Currently finalising the exhaustive restoration / recommissioning work after being in long term storage.
All in all a very special and much loved iconic 1950's gentleman's carriage. Previous owners include 2 highly decorated WW2 US servicemen, the Glynn Collection and a well known Wall St. financial family.
The pictures show the original blue and cream colour scheme (library picture). At some stage prior to being shipped overseas in the early 1960's the coachwork on this vehicle was repainted masons black as shown in two of the other pictures taken in the US.

I am also selling our 1953 Hooper bodied project Bentley R Type as we are downsizing and won't have room to garage the vehicles.
