Description
I have finally accepted that trying to do a rolling restoration on my SE5a on the street outside my house or on my dad's drive isn't practical so unfortunately have made the decision to sell it.
I've had it a couple of years now and haven't managed to spend the time on it I wanted to, I have in that time though replaced all the water hoses, fitted an ally radiator, new water pump, new starter motor (turns over much better now), it has an electric fuel pump that I just use to prime the carb as the mechanical one works fine (another thing that was replaced), new brake pads and shoes, rewired the front lights with relays, rebuilt the carb and fitted new seals to both doors and the rear hatch.
It drove fine before parking it up and it does idle with good oil pressure, I ran it round the block today and it was a bit rough, coughing and popping but the petrol has been in there a while so probably just needs new petrol and possibly timing up but shouldn't take much to get it running properly again
The underside is good, I treated it with rust converter and waxoil when I got it and have had the MOT guy that does my bikes and other car go over it and he was happy that all is OK.
The rear diff is weeping and the rear seal on the gearbox is leaking, the paint isn't good but the webasto works!
I have a video clip of it idling which I can email.
