1985 Ford Escort MK3 1. 3 Ghia 4 speed.
I have extensively refurbished/ restored this Escort from a neglected sorry condition over the last couple of years and currently use it as an every day car. In 2016 it failed its MOT and was stored until I purchased it at the end of 2019 as a project.
Apart from the front passenger door A pillar which needed replacing and the adjacent wing the rest of the car has never had any welding, inner/ outer sills and all floor panels are original as is the battery tray which is original. This car has a very remarkable strong body shell. Interior is in good original condition with very good upholstery. Mechanically many parts have been replaced, shoes/ pads, drive shaft gaiters, clutch, complete cooling system, head gasket, cambelt, distributor, weber conversion kit replacing the unreliable Ford VV carburettor and many other parts. I have sprayed the car with the exception of the roof and even though it will not win any concourse events, it is very clean and tidy with a nice shine and attracts many complements.
Even though I have extensively refurbished and maintained this car it does seem to appear to run hot in heavy traffic but doesn't or has never overheated and under normal driving conditions runs absolutely correct, the weber conversion still needs a little bit of fine fettling as occasionally it has a slight flat spot. Overall this is a very tidy respectable Escort Ghia which attracts many positive comments, it shows 61638 miles which I cannot verify as there was not any service history but the DVLA website shows yearly MOT's from 2006 right up to it coming off the road where most years it only covered several hundred miles between tests.
I do now have two folders of receipts for all parts I have purchased to get the Escort into its current standard. There is some spare parts and a manual that will be include with the car.
Sadly, I'm only selling as its becoming difficult to drive with my arthritis being a manual car and no power steering.
The price I believe is very reasonable and leaves room for any improvements.
