SUMMARY
Finished in 702 Smoke Silver with complimenting Mushroom Leather interior, this absolutely delightful E300 Turbodiesel was first delivered by Derwent Mercedes Wakefield to its first owner on 12/ 2/ 1998 and registered on the cherished plate 4 CMG. The car was bought by a successful local land agent as a combined 65th Birthday / retirement present to himself and kept until he sadly passed away in 2012; at which point the car was bequeathed to his niece but as she had no use for the car, it was bought by her father who kept the car until March this year.
Both previous owners have had similar use for the car, mainly using it for traveling to a from a family holiday home in France; in fact the previous owner said that most of the 60k recorded miles have probably been recorded there! The car has never been used over a British winter, has always been garaged and has been maintained to a rigorous schedule.
The service record reads as follows:

As you can imagine from the above maintenance record, and with the way the car has been kept, there probably isn't a better W210, or certainly OM606 turbo engine in existence. This engine is legendary for its reliability and one which has had 16 oil changes in 59k miles will be in as new condition inside. To drive, the car really is like a new W210; it is super smooth through the gearbox, produces very respectable power and will cruise all day at high speed, with nonchalant ease.
The interior of this car is another highlight, the first owner was a retired chap, the second had grown up children; and no one has been in the back seats since I've had the car. I'd say they've never been used. The leather on all of the seats in fact is nothing short of perfect, the carpets have been double-matted (aka “Mats on Mats”) from new. The carpets are unmarked, the wood trim is un-marked, you'd actually be forgiven for thinking this car has done 6, 000 miles, not 60k; it's that nice. The bodywork, as previously mentioned is also perfect, the main notes are two small stone-chips on the bonnet, but no rust anywhere visible or not, even the road springs and suspension arms are still shiny underneath!
As with any Mercedes of this era, there’s always a nagging concern that the car won’t stay this way. Obviously as with any car of any age, if it’s pressed into daily year round use, it will deteriorate, that’s just a simple fact of life, but in my experience, I find with Mercedes of this era that have stayed in an excceptional condition, will usually remain this way if looked after. The common denominator I find is if they’re invariably finished in colours carried over from the previous generation of Mercedes (i. e. W201, W124 etc, and 702 Smoke Silver being one of those colours) the paint formulation seems to offer much better protection, than the newer water based colours. Also for some unbeknown reason, I’m finding all the exceptional W202’s & W210’s seem to hail from 1997 and 1998…why? Who knows but that’s just been my observations.
In summary, as I’ve said probably one of the best W210 out there, and it certainly has to be the best E300 Turbo Diesels out there; most of these cars have now covered gargantuan mileages, as that’s essentially what they were built for, however it also means that most are well past their best now, and have passed through a series of neglectful owners; this car is the polar opposite of those two statements. I simply love this car and the way it drives, and as I’ve said in previous adverts, it makes you wonder how simply fantastic the combination of the Turbo Charged OM606 mated to a five speed auto ‘box, would have been in the W124. That said the chassis dynamics of the W210 suit the combination perfectly, and give a truly addictive drive quality.
At the end of the day, this car can be seen two ways; either as an appreciating low use classic or basically as a cheap new prestige car to be used and enjoyed. It’s also worth mention in the wake of the recent fuel crisis (that actually wasn’t a crisis) as with any old school Mercedes Diesel (not CDI engines!) you’ll never be stranded with this car due to unavailability of fuel, as it will happily run on SVO (Bio Diesel/ Vegetable Oil) if required. I wouldn’t do that to this car, as its too nice, but its nice know that you can, if you wanted to, or indeed needed to.
The price I’m asking directly reflects the amazing condition of this car, together with its watertight provenance; although some may think it’s on the dear side, it has to be seen in context. Yes, you could probably find a cheaper “decent” W210 Turbo Diesel, but to bring it to the standard of this car, would cost many thousands of pounds, and even after spending that, it wouldn’t be original, and hence would never be as good as this car. As I’ve said, I feel this car to be unique among its peers in so much has it has it all; pristine condition, originality, low mileage and provenance, and as such will appeal to those who fully appreciate those attributes.

MTSV CLASSIC MERCEDES
MTSV (an abbreviation for Mark Taylor Specialist Vehicles) was born out an incurable and lifelong obsession for anything with four wheels on it, especially those carrying the legendary Three Pointed Star. Established by me, Mark Taylor in November 2005 when the Classic Car market was in its infancy and long before “everyman and his dog” had jumped on the Classic Car bandwagon. Specialising in Classic Mercedes from the late 1970’s, through to the 2000’s, I also frequently have the odd foray into other quality classics and sometimes even modern cars, however the qualification is always that it has to be interesting, and/ or just a little different; my theory, which has served me well so far, is that if I like it, someone else probably will!
My main specialisation is the legendary Mercedes W201 190 and Mercedes W124; I firmly believe these models were about as good as cars got in terms of sheer, teutonic quality, and believe them to be the best cars Mercedes have ever made. I’ve built up a substantial knowledge of both the W201 190 & W124 over many years, which I’m always happy to share, and have recently contributed to a W201 buying guide written by Julian Parish. I also have extensive experience of the most of the Mercedes models within my “band of interest” namely the W116, W123, W202 & W203 C-Class, W208 & W209 CLK, W210 & W211 E-Class, W126 & W140 S-Class, R170 & R171 SLK and the R129 SL-Class. Obviously as time goes on later models are coming onto my radar too.
MTSV has always, and will always focus on quality rather than quantity, and in doing so has earned, and continues to maintain an enviable reputation among its many customers both in the UK and abroad, many who are now three, four and even five times repeat customers, some of which have become good friends too. I’m also listed in the Mercedes Club Directory as a recommended business and I’ve also had several of my rarer cars featured in the motoring press too.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that. The cars I source are carefully selected and I work very hard so that when my cars leave me, I have the satisfaction of knowing they are as good as they possibly can be within the constraints I have. As such I have many repeat customers and new customers that have been recommended via word of mouth…the ultimate accolade for anyone in business. To read more, see my website at - details above
Any other questions, please feel free to contact me via the details on my website. I'm a firstly and foremostly a true car enthusiast of many, many years, and a Mercedes Club Member, so it's a pleasure to meet and speak to like-minded people.
Finally, I'm situated in Keighley, West Yorkshire (Postal Code Area BD21) which is approximately 11 miles from Skipton, and 20 miles West of Leeds.
