1981 DT 125 MX for sale.
Please ignore the ‘175’ decals – these were all the previous owner could get at the time. This is a 1981 DT 125 MX as per the V5 registration document. MOT until 10 September 2022. The DT becomes tax and MOT exempt on 1 April 2022. DT125 MX decals are still available, should you prefer.
The DT is in unrestored original condition and has done 11750 miles from new. This is absolutely genuine and you can tell from the engine internals/ clutch plates etc. Simple and robust air-cooled engine which is still being built and used overseas today. Excellent parts availability and support for Yamahas of this era (I use Powerlinks, Ringwood). It’s sweet as a nut.
I’ve had the bike for two years and I have now passed my test so seeking a 250/ 350 eighties bike. I’m 51 and a Saturday and Sunday summer rider (sorry!), who has one of these (and others) back in the day. I’ve done less than 800 miles on it since an engine rebuilt by a Yamaha specialist using Mitaka parts (pistons, rings, crank, main and small end bearings), and it’s only just been run in. Even so, I’ve been limiting it to 6500 RPM until it hits 1000 miles since the rebuild I, which I probably won’t manage now it’s for sale.....
