FOR SALE, REALLY RARE 1970 HEMI CHALLENGER RT/ SE
This rare beauty is a Challenger in its meanest and rarest version you could order, finding an original R code Challenger is already difficult but finding an RT/ SE Version is almost impossible, they only made 59 of them where they made 37 Automatics and 22 4 Speeds. Normally these cars are only for sale trough Auctions / or go from collector to collector, but this time we could get our hands on it, and have it for sale right here in Sneek in our beautiful showroom in the Netherlands.
RT/ SE
This option combination is standing for Road and Track/ Special Edition, The Road and track option was a standard option when you went for the 426 Hemi, this option was for sporty suspension, special Leaf springs/ special shocks/ RT badges in front and rear of the car, black painted grill/ painted taillight/ 8000 RPM Tachometer/ Performance hood and sport stripes on the side. The SE option was a luxury option, you had a smaller rear window, and standard the needed vinyl top (to cover the small window conversion), you received a roof console with warning lights for the Fuel/ seat belts/ and reminder for the closing the doors, and some extra lights were mounted in the console, and a Velour Headliner was installed. The rest of the interior received Leather Seat covers, and special edition call-outs in the door panels with wood grain on it.
426 Hemi engine with Automatic transmission.
The 426 Hemi is a 7. 2 Liter big block with special H. E. M. I heads, this stands for hemispherical combustion chamber, it's a special type of heads and valve combination where the spark plug is mounted in the middle of the valve covers, instead of the side, hereby you get a good combustion in the combustion chamber, and therefore the Hemi is popular in the history of Muscle cars, and cars of today, this engine is looking very big, because of the bigger heads, and they produced a lot of horsepower, standard they were rated at 425 Horsepower, but this was actually much more than advertised, they could easily have 475/ 500 horsepower standard, because the insurance companies were not that happy with cars with these high-powered engines, they advertised with lower ratings. This Hemi engine is rebuilt by Bob Mazzolini Racing Company in California, and has a slightly higher cam installed where the engines push around 500 Horsepower out of it, the automatic transmission received standard a special upgrade to handle the high torque of the Hemi, and was upgraded with a stronger spline shaft. Just so you know, for driveability, we installed 2 newer Edelbrocks on the Engine, the original carbs are with the car. The vin number is stamped on the oil pan rail of the engine, and the vin number is stamped on the transmission in its belhousing VIN pad.
The car
Before we found this car, the car was restored in the USA with a Mopar specialist, he has done the restoration with care and respect for the originality of the car, the car is now in showroom state, its paint is beautifully, the undercarriage is clean, and it drives amazing, and is freaking fast! The car is equipped with the N94 Snorkel hood that is installed by a dealer in the USA back in the days, the invoice comes with the car, there is a binder full of history documents like old titles, old invoices and information about the car that comes with it, even the car is restored it comes with a lot of original parts on the car, the interior is all original, like the headliner / the leather seat covers etc, so it's a time capsule together with some restored items like new carpet etc to make the total picture complete.
Overall, is this a very nice car to have for your collection, or to drive with it. It's really fast, and the Sound is Amazing, you just fall in love with the car when you get the change to drive it or to see it in our showroom.
