The car that gave birth to the concept of “The Peoples Car”. Designed in the 30s by Ferdinand Porsche and since then produced in more than 21 Million examples. Of course continuously developed and improved during the years, but always maintaining the rear mounted air cooled boxer engine – just like Porsche….
The first cabriolet version was introduced as early as in 1949, and has been produced along with the closed variant ever since. However with completely different No. of produced units, as a total of just 331. 847 cars were produced when the production ended in January 1980. This 1303 is exactly that version, with the large 1. 6 liter engine, improved steering and road handling as well as another dash board being the top of line of the famous Type 1.
Since 1993 this car was owned by the same Danish enthusiast. The car is very well maintained, the cabin presents itself almost as new and the nice original Nardi wood steering wheel and gear knob suit the car perfectly. One of the finest and most expensive Blaupunkt stereo systems on the market during the 90s is installed, most of it hidden. The double layer isolated hood is in great shape and not least tight.
To drive this open car is a pure joy. Not because of the speed – the 58 hp of engine sets a natural limitation – however speed is not the objective here. Instead, the dry rumbling sound from the air cooled boxer engine, the nice cabin feel and not least the many smiles and positive “thumbs up” from your fellow drivers put a smile on your face. Simply speaking, you get happy every time you drive it, because it is such a joy to use and own.
The car comes with a Danish title ready for the new owner to drive into spring and summer with the expectation of many pleasant experiences to come.
