SUMMARY
An iconic and rare W460 G-Wagen in superb condition having been professionally restored to a very high standard three years ago. She even comes with service history to substantiate the mileage; remeber the W460 only has a five digit odometer, so some can appear to have done a low mileage, but in reality may have done 100k, 200k or even 300k more miles than the odometer reads.
This G-Wagen was taken as part of a debt by my paint and bodyman back in 2018. The customer whom he's started the restoration for, eventually ran out of money, so couldn't afford to pay his spiraling bill, so the only way out for him was to use the car itself as payment, so a deal was done, and the ownership transferred. The restoration then continued, with a further £5000 being spent in parts alone to finish it. As he was now doing the job for himself, he couldn't cost in his time, but he estimates given the many hours this took, the cost of the full restoration if this had been done for a paying customer would have been between £10K-12K. The result is just fantastic. it also has the added benefit that as the job was done for himself, he's went that extra mile.
The car has also just (February 2022) had a major service at a respected Mercedes Specialist garage, who moreover fully understands these cars, and is very familiar with their ins and outs, having worked on them at a Mercedes Dealership when they were new, back in the 80's and 90's. A major service on one of these cars is quite an involved procedure, and ensures all systems work and function as they should, including all transmission components and diff locks.
The universally positive attention this car creates is quite incredible, even young kids know what it is. The W460 has always been my favourie incarnation of the G-Wagen as it was the one that was closest to its roots as a utilatarian vehicle; sure its not as refined to drive as the later W463 incarnations, but theres something incredibly satisfying about driving a "proper G-Wagen" Its also much simpler to work on , and although quite agricultral in its nature, the OM617 5-Cylinder diesel will probably outlast its owner. Its also worth mentioning in these times of spiraling fuel costs, that this engine will happily run on vegetable oil, and could potentially save you a fortune.
So if you're after one of these most sought after vehicles, and dont want to fall into the restoration trap, like many have with these cars, then this is for you; everything has been done. I'd love to keep this myself, but its far too nice (and iconic) to use it how I'd like to.
I've just reduced the price to £22, 500. Please note this is now a no offers price; you will struggle to find a Mercedes G-Wagen of this calibre at that kind of money.
THE MTSV DIFFERENCE
Unlike some, I don’t just simply go out, buy any old car, give it a good clean, then advertise it for more than the purchase price, disregarding any issues the car may have in the hope the new buyer won’t notice…I just couldn’t do that.
