1964 BMW 1800 Saloon. This amazing barn find is a very rare U. K right hand drive car that has been discovered after nearly 50 years locked away in a London garage and has covered just 38, 000 miles from new. Introduced in September 1963, the BMW 1800 was the second member of the New Class family. The BMW New Class (German: Neue Klasse) was a line of sedans and coupes produced by German automaker BMW between 1962 and 1977. These models ensured BMW's solvency after the company's financial crisis of the 1950s and established the identity of BMW automobiles as sports sedans. This particular BMW is a remarkable car that still remains all of its original factory features and is totally unmolested and fresh from its long term slumber. It was owned by an elderly gentleman who put it away one evening and there it stayed in the same family until now. Still in the exact same condition that it was discovered it retains almost 5 decades of dust and dirt, a real 100% genuine barn find. With a very solid chassis and no signs of rot the BMW is displaying just light surface rust on the roof and boot lid. The interior is in fantastic order and along with the carpets and door cards the upholstery showing minimal wear, the genuine very rare factory slide on head rests still present. The car was taken to our workshop ensuring that the condition remained exactly as it left the garage making sure not to disturb the years of patina. We replaced the brake and clutch cylinders and flexi pipes, drained the fuel tank, and fresh fuel was added. A new 6V battery was fitted with four spark plugs and a new coil and with little effort the car started and after some light fettling the car was driven the few miles back to our premises. You may recognise the car as it was recently displayed by its current owner at The Classic and Restoration Show at the NEC on the barn find stand where it has received high praise indeed by the viewing public and classic experts alike. It is now only available for somebody to either take it to the next level or continue to cherish as is. Accompanying the car is the original buff log book and in the boot of the car some 60’s brochures from the day. A real Mary Celeste time warp find that is a unrepeatable.
