For sale is my 1997 Mazda MX5 MK1 1. 8i. It currently has a very low mileage of 71, 000 (will rise as in daily use) and has 7-8 months of MOT remaining if I’m remembering correctly. I bought the car recently but have decided I’d like something slightly bigger.
The car Is in pristine condition, has been thoroughly cared for throughout its entire life, and has had not a single expense spared. The previous owners were an elderly couple that had owned the car for 12 years and this car was their pride and joy.
It is for the most part entirely original and stock, everything that came with the car from the factory is still present, and not much has been changed, the few things that have been changed are only an aftermarket exhaust (it sounds similar to stock, just slightly louder), and a cold air intake. Other than this, whilst parts have been replaced when needed, it hasn’t had any other “modifications”.
Mechanically the car is faultless, as mentioned I am currently using it daily whilst I’m at home over the Easter break and before this, it was being used every weekend with the previous owners, stored in the garage, and charged when not in use. The engine has been looked after really well, it hasn’t ever given a single issue, has had oil changes whenever due, and general fluid replacements when needed. It runs extremely smoothly, the clutch and gearbox are perfectly healthy and there are no unwanted noises or feelings. The previous owner told me that he needed to change a spring on one of the suspension components and just decided to do them all, so they’re all new.
The interior of the car is one of the cleanest I’ve seen, washed and detailed regularly everything from the seats to the dash shows no signs of wear or tear. Everything in the car again works great without issue. The roof latches are very smooth and the roof folds down nicely, it has a heated rear screen and there are absolutely no leaks anywhere. The roof itself is practically brand new, on the inside and outside. The car has an old but advanced for the time, really nice Sony head unit that has Bluetooth, aux, etc... The only letdown is that suddenly both windows decided to stop working. This is nothing to do with the motors as they were working fine, it will be a small loose connection, I just haven’t got around to trying to sort it.
In terms of bodywork, the car is in really good condition, especially for its age. There are no scratches, peeling off paint, fading, lacquer peel, anything of the sort. There will undoubtedly be tiny stone chips here and there but that’s normal for any car on the road. There is one very small dent on the NSF Arch probably caused by a car in a supermarket somewhere but this is hardly visible and again has not bothered me. Does not affect paint whatsoever. The car will also come with a 1 of 1 custom wing fitted that is a nudge to the very rare and sought-after MAZDA RX7 FD wing. There is absolutely no rust on either of the sills and on any of the arches, all jacking points, seatbelt anchorage, chassis rails, everything is entirely solid.
The cars paperwork and history are really immense, it has a huge thick folder of paperwork detailing all receipts for any parts or work it has had done dating back to the very day the car was bought. Any work mentioned in this ad, paperwork is present. All MOTs, any labor, bits and bobs, its all here including the factory keepers book, manual etc...
Overall this is a very clean, cared for, and looked after MX5 MK1 that I am sad to be having to list. I have been entirely honest in the ad detailing all that is right and wrong with the car. I would like the car to go to an owner that will drive it regularly and that can afford to take care of such a clean and low mileage example, there aren’t too many left.
