This Left Hand Drive, 1962 Fiat 500D Transformable with suicide doors and long transformable roof has had a no expense spared, bare metal , nut and bolt restoration with suspension components sandblasted. Such was the attention to detail, that the roof rail gutters were replaced and new sheet metal fabricated. You will not find such detail in a Fiat 500D, anywhere.
Upgrades include, original matching number 110D engine with enlarged piston providing approximately 540cc. Standard output of 499cc is underpowered for modern day traffic.

The floor panels are also brand new. Finished in Verde Chiaro (Light Green) with tan / camel Nappa leather it has been upgraded keeping the provenance of the car in mind.
The Nuova range that began in 1957 and ended in 1975. The Fiat 500D like its predecessor the Fiat 500N, has suicide doors. The transformable or 'trasformabile' in Italian, is a convertible roof that folds all the way down to the engine bay. This particular option along with the suicide doors is highly desirable amongst collectors. The Fiat 500D commenced production in late 1960 and ended in early 1965.
The car features hight quality Italian Nappa leather using the pattern of the original vinyl seats. The Interior door cards are also leather with matching coloured mats, with ivory piping.
The long plastic soft top roof was replaced with a high-quality Mohair roof.
The car retains its original Fiat 500D engine but the pistons have been enlarged and are internal. keeping the original monobloc. These super compressed cylinders and pistons give an increased power output to keep up with modern day traffic and the extra 40cc output from the original 499cc is a perfect combination. The engine is in new condition and has covered less than 25 miles since restoration. You often find that some of these vehicles are being offered with non original engines of later models . This is done to increase the power output but compromising the provenance of the car.
The car is accompanied by a basket carrier and a wicker picnic hamper. The white wall tyres are brand new.
This is definitely the best Fiat 500D that you shall find in the market, anywhere. It has been painstakingly restored and the under carriage and engine bay are highly detailed with the door shuts better than when the car left the factory. Attention to detail will be noticed by any connoisseur. Items that were virtually impossible to find were sourced including the dashboard 'Fiat 500 plague' and the original tools and jack. The leather key ring matches the leather interior along with the bespoke document holder. The car also has a fully functioning heater to keep you warm on a winters day.

The car is UK registered and located in Weybridge, which is a 20 minute drive from London Heathrow airport and a 35 minute drive to London Gatwick. Bonhams in their October, 2021 Zoute Sale sold a restored Fiat 500D is the same colour as above for € 57, 000. This car is in better condition and features more upgrades. I am selling mine for significantly less than its finished cost of restoration and the one sold at Zoute in 2021.
