Description
This early series 2 car has recently undergone sympathetic restoration and presents beautifully, having completed only 96 miles since restoration. Resprayed in its original zircon blue (2k base and clear) the car is extremely original, retaining its original panels and interior. Each panel, including the roof was removed from the car, stripped, repaired where necessary and refitted after paint.
The car has only 2 previous owners who maintained it fastidiously. There are 16 stamps in the car’s passport the service document, followed up by a further 13 Shell service reports complete in their original wallet. In addition, the car comes with the original owners manual and book pack, 10 MOT certificates and a receipt from 1973 for dinitrol wax and anti rust treatment. This has served the car well as the usual rot spots are excellent, the car has received only minor welding to the sill ends during restoration.
The entire braking and suspension systems have been removed and overhauled with all new braking components and new bushes and rubbers.
The engine bay is nicely detailed to original specification for a 1971 car and benefits from being repainted, stainless steel fixings, and many with components have been blasted and powder coated. The carbs received a rebuild and a new radiator and water pump were fitted.
The cylinder heads were removed to reveal very little engine wear which is backed up by the car’s excellent oil pressure. The engine is a real peach, very quiet, idles beautifully, is smoke free, maintains a consistently good temperature and pulls exceptionally well.
Externally the car received new brightwork all round including stainless steel bumpers and new weather seals.
An exceptional example of a well engineered car that presents beautifully and is a real head turner.
Many, many more photos available on request and viewing is welcomed.
