Description
The British brand Daimler got created in 1893 as a license of Daimler in Stuttgart/ Germany. But the British chapter quickly went its own ways. Between the two world wars, Daimler took a leading position in the manufacturing of luxury cars. After 1945 production for a new model with 6-cylinder engine (2. 5 l capacity) started. Its newly designed engine, independent suspension and the underslung chassis were modern characteristics. The body itself, however, was British conservative.
Our Daimler DB 18 Consort Limousine was an export model and was sold to Christchurch, New Zealand. In 1992 its current owner bought the classic there. This extraordinary vehicle is called "Humphrey" and was driven in New Zealand, Hong Kong and Frankfurt/ Germany. Since 1998 "Humphrey" has been active in Germany. It is pure joy to drive this British limousine with its easy to handle preselector gearbox. This understated Daimler is a winner!
