1999 Lexus LS400 for sale.

Excellent condition. Good service history. DHP Dynamic Handling Pack model. 73004 miles. I have reluctantly decided to move my Lexus LS400 on due to lack of proper use, after almost nine years of happy ownership. The previous owner had it for ten years. Before that, it was a company car from new, before being purchased by the retiring MD of the same company. So it’s had 3 previous owners, 2 previous drivers. The photos are slightly complimentary, as they always are. The car is in excellent condition and is frequently admired, although it is not a concours show car. It has been used and has picked up the occasional age related mark, none of which detract from its appearance. It has been very well maintained and serviced only by main dealers, a Lexus specialist and more recently a Porsche specialist, who maintains all my cars. It is overdue a timing belt through age. although it was done less than 20000 miles ago. This is accounted for, and then some, in the asking price. It is worth more than this.
If you’re unfamiliar with the car, I don’t believe any optional extras were available as it had everything. It comes with
Power Steering

Remote central locking
Remote opening/ closing of windows
Electric windows
Electric front seats including lumbar
Heated front and rear seats
Electric tilt and slide glass sunroof, with sliding shade
Climate control
6 x CD player, plus spare cartridge
Sat Nav (not exactly up to date)
Multiple airbags
Alarm/ immobiliser
Carpet over mats from new
Gold badges replaced with new chrome badges

Five new Kumho tyres were fitted 3000 miles ago, as the previous tyres showed signs of age. In addition to routine servicing other work includes a new alternator due to a leak from the power steering pump (a not uncommon issue). The power steering pump was rebuilt with OE seals etc. to prevent a repetition. The battery is relatively new. New front brake pads and discs were fitted less than 6000 miles ago and other odd jobs have been done, including strut bar bushes. The climate control system was serviced with new seals and re gassed and has been nice and cold since. The starter contacts were replaced as they are a known, if uncommon issue. The underside was retreated with Dinitrol a couple of years ago, to keep it in this condition. The timing belt is overdue because although it has done fewer than 20000 miles, it is overdue through age. The wheels are in good condition, although a perfectionist may want to get them refurbished.
I have every MOT certificate from new (it was not tested by the previous owner in 2012 due to lack of use), and these verify the low mileage of 73000.
This car is a pleasure to drive, very relaxing even after long distances. It is incredibly comfortable (the seats have their own suspension system). This is the final iteration of the LS 400, more desirable because it has traction control and other advances. The Lexus 400 had many safety and technological innovations, and an absolute fortune was spent developing them, with the intention of producing the best car in the world. Many believe they succeeded and that the last of the 400 series is the pick of the litter. It is the most advanced 400, whilst not having the added complication of later cars, like the excellent LS430.
My car will do 30 mpg plus on a good run, less on short runs (I use another car for many local trips). Insurance is very reasonable on a classic policy.
I will be very sad to see the Lexus go, but I’m simply not using it enough. I have other cars and am refurbishing a Lancia I’ve owned for many years, so have limited free time. I also may soon have restrictions on space. All in all, best to let it go to someone who will have time to enjoy it. If I don’t achieve a satisfactory price, I will lay it up for a year or two, when things will likely be different.
My asking price is £5250 o. n. o. Given the values of these cars now and its history, condition and mileage, I believe it is priced to sell and is a bit of a bargain.
MOT until 24. 8. 2022
Service history by main dealers, Lexus specialist and more recently, a Porsche specialist who services all my cars.
