Description
Scottish show car, the only one of this body style by Hooper.
The car was ordered by the Rolls Royce Dealer Clyde Automobile Company Limited of Glasgow for supply via William Gillespie & Sons of Paisley to a Miss Kerr of Greenock. The chassis left the factory in September 1934 and the chassis card indicates the car was displayed in the 1934 Scottish Motor Show.
Bought by its current owner Mr Gordon Hall in November 2003 from Mr S M Robertson of Ayr
The car has been in regular use by the current owner for pleasure and the occasional wedding and has been meticulously maintained and improved as follows:
New clutch fitted with heavy duty spring
Total engine re-build, crankshaft ground, new bearings, line bored, new cylinder block with pistons from Ristes, rockers re-bushed and more
Radiator fitted with new core
Carburettor serviced fitted with new jet and seals
Water pump re-furbished
Current MOT Certificate
Servicing and overhauls carried out by veteran and vintage restoration specialist formerly of Scott Moncrieff
Bodywork – structurally sound, the doors fit well without any undue rattles or movement when on the road.
Driving – engine starts immediately, is very quiet and the car drives and pulls well. The gearbox is quiet and without any play. Crisp positive gear change.
RREC surveyor and valuer inspected the car in October 2017 and a copy of his report is available on request.
The reason for selling is that at 77 years of age the current owner who has 8 Rolls Royce cars wishes to reduce his collection due to the work involved in looking after them all
