This is a R100GS Moorespeed Special (number 007)
If you are unaware of Moorespeed, can I politely suggest you Google “Richie Moore, and Moorespeed BMW” which will give you some clue as to the standard of BMW’s that he produces
I know that Richie Moore hasn’t made many of these specials, and if you wanted him to build you one it would be a long wait, and a cost in excess of £25000. So this machine is not only rare, it’s cheap for what it is in my opinion.
This bike has had the main frame braced in the same manner that HPN used on the original factory Paris Dakar race bikes to prevent flexing and the stresses caused by the amount of torque and power now made by the engine.
Rear subframe is a R80GS basic subframe, again strengthened and braced, with a built in rear rack.
Engine has high compression Omega pistons, head rebuilt with new valves guides etc.
Heavy duty clutch springs fitted (clutch still feels quite light to me, even with heavy springs fitted)
Carbs rebuilt and gas flowed to suit the new pistons etc.
Heads rebuilt with new valves.
New timing chain, new pushrod tube rubbers, stainless bolts etc, diode board fitted with extra earth wire.
Relocated oil cooler (perfect for if you want to fit a 40 litre HPN tank). Engine guards are replaced with ones that don’t have the oil cooler mounts.
Moorespeed K&N air filter
Gearbox rebuilt with high top gear (+6%)
New output shaft seal to fit with mono shock rear shaft.
Mono shock rear does away with the paralever system which is known to cause problems
Rear mono shaft has been extended 50mm. Rear bevel is 33/ 11, new crown wheel to fit new 3 stud rear wheel.
Front wheel, talon hub with stainless spokes onto a 21 inch excel rim.
Braking disk, and opposed pistons brembo calliper.
(I find it stops fine)
Rear wheel, new hub, laced with stainless spokes onto excel rim. 140 tyre at rear.
Rear brake changed for a HPN cable operated system with reversed actuating lever
Both tyres are Pirelli scorpion, both with loads of life left in them.
Front forks are Paioli/ KYB 46mm upside down items, resprung by Moorespeed.
(I believe he uses springs from a Yamaha, but don’t know which one)
Rear shock is a Wilburs shock specially made for Moorespeed to suit these GS specials.
New wiring main loom, new handlebar wiring, new rear tail loom.
Koso multi function speedo/ tachometer with more functions than I know how to use!
Cockpit also has a Din plug outlet and a double USB socket as well as a battery health indicator. This is all covered by a Moorespeed mini fairing
Stainless battery box, UFO plastic mudguards front and rear, Maier hand guards, rental handlebars
Stainless Moorespeed stepped down pipes exhaust (as this improves low end torque apparently)
Currently has a scorpion silencer fitted, but I also have the original Moorespeed stainless silencer (no longer available) but I believe that this could do with a re-pack of the silence material. The original silencer will come with the bike.
Migsel adjustable side stand, main stand altered to suit the bikes geometry.
Lower SWT footpegs currently fitted, but a pair of Fastway footpegs will come with the bike if you prefer them (they are about 3cm higher, and slightly more forward)
Bespoke rear pannier frames (these come off easily if you do not need them…4 bolts/ nuts each side only. I prefer the look of the bike without the rear pannier racks, but they are useful if you want to use soft luggage).
